2011 I.O.W.A. Arabella Mansfield Award Awarded to Lu Ann White

Lu Ann White was awarded the Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys’ Tenth Annual Arabella Mansfield Award for 2011 in June 2011. Arabella Mansfield was the first woman lawyer admitted to practed law in the United States. She was admitted into the Iowa bar in 1869 despite the fact that at the time, the bar required candidates to be white and male. She was also actively involved in the women’s suffrage movement. The I.O.W.A. created the Arabella Mansfield award to recognize outstanding women attorneys in Iowa who have promoted and nurtured women in our profession.

United Way Campaign

Hanson, Bjork & Russell completed its United Way Campaign in November following a kickoff meeting with representatives from the Iowa Youth Shelter and United Way. The successful campaign ended with a silent auction and individual donations following fundraising events throughout the year, including jeans days and competition for the Iowa – Iowa State football game.
